Camille’s Fav:

Stir Fry. This particular recipe is for a pork and string bean stir fry, but you can interchange any meat and vegetable with this same marinade and it comes out spectacular EVERY TIME! Click here for the recipe.

Beth’s Fav:

Ginger Hawaiian Chicken Shish Kabobs. Straight from heaven.

  • 1/3 C. Ketchup
  • 1/3 C. Brown sugar
  • 1/3 C. Soy sauce
  • 1/4 C. pineapple juice
  • 1 1/2 T. Rice vinegar
  • 4 t. garlic
  • 1/2 t. sesame oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 T. oil
  • 2 t. ginger (fresh or powder)

Cut chicken into about 1 inch pieces and marinate in that for several hours. Cut up peppers, onions, and fresh pineapple and stick them all on the skewer and throw them on the barbie.

Andrea’s Fav:

Sweet and Sour Chicken. Yum!

  • 1 lb chicken cut into pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • Cooking oil

Dump flour in one pie pan and milk in a separate pie pan.  Dip chicken chunks into flour, then milk, then flour.  Place in large skillet after coated with flour and milk.

Pour a generous amount (around 3 TBSP) of oil on chicken and cook until chicken is cooked through.  (If the oil starts getting low add more.). The outside of the chicken should be crispy and the inside cooked.

  • Sauce:
  • 1/4 Cup pineapple juice
  • 2 TBSP soy sauce
  • 3 TBSP vinegar
  • 1/4 Cup ketchup
  • 1 TBSP cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Mix together the sauce in a small sauce pan. Bring to boil for 1-2 minutes.    When sauce starts to thicken pour over the chicken and let simmer for 20 minutes (I rarely let it simmer. We usually are hungry and ready to eat.). Serve over rice.  My family also likes to add ramen noodles over the rice. We cook the chicken ramen as instructed. Then drain most of the water.

Coconut Rice

This is another of our fav’s that works with all of these recipes. It’s easy and just sooooo goood! For the recipe click here.

  1. You mentioned in this podcast that there are herbs that are in the freezer section. I think this is amazing and have been looking at my grocery store for them, but can’t find them anywhere. Can you tell me where you find them and maybe what brand they are? Thank you so much. I love listening to your podcast! It is always full of great information!

    1. Kristi,
SO glad you are enjoying the podcast! The herbs that I have found are garlic, ginger, cilantro, and basil. I have bought them at WalMart and City Market (Smiths). They are always on the top shelf with other vegetables below them at both of those stores…usually next to precut onions and soup starters. The brand I have bought is Borot Gardens. You may have to ask someone who works there to point them out. They are 3×3 square flat boxes. SO AMAZING!!! Hope that helps!

  2. Hello! I’m wondering if you could possibly repost a pic of the Ginger Hawaiian Chicken Shish Kabobs recipe as part of the picture isn’t showing & I can’t read all of the ingredients?
